I love french link butterfly bits-they offer clear communication due to the french link allowing for a "break" between left and right, and the butterfly portion gives you leverage. It's like having 3 bits in one depending on the loop used: from snaffle down to shank or somewhere in between.It's a perfect learning bit for a horse as it can be very mild or you can step it up a notch using the leverage of the last loop.It is a long bit and could look bulky on a more petite horse (in which case I suggest a 2 loop butterfly french link). The horse pictured is 15.3/16hh draft mix. It's actually one of the few bits he likes.
